About GenPlay and how we find games
GenPlay.gg is an independent site run from Denmark by Khalil Yazouri. It tracks new games where AI made part of the game, and shows exactly which part.
Where the games come from
Every morning a small program we call the scout reads three public sources:
- itch.io: new and popular games under the tags ai-generated and vibe-coding. Each game page has an AI Disclosure row where the developer ticks what AI was used for. 633 games so far.
- Steam: the newest releases. Since January 2024, Valve asks developers to describe AI generated content on the store page. The scout reads that text. 223 games so far.
- Show HN on Hacker News: posts about games that were vibe-coded or built with an AI model. If the page has no preview image, the scout takes a screenshot of the game itself. 5 games so far.

The AI meter
We map each disclosure to six parts: code, art, sound, music, voice and writing. A lit segment means the developer says AI was used for that part. When AI only helped with stand-in art or proofreading, the meter is dimmed and reads "AI helped with".
Sentences about what AI did not make, or what human artists made, do not light anything. Neither does AI that was only used for the trailer or the store page.
Example of a dimmed meter: AI helped with some art and text.
The meter shows what the developer disclosed. We do not play every game before it is listed, and a developer can disclose too little or too much. That is why every game page quotes the developer's own words.
What we leave out
- Games with adult content on Steam.
- Test uploads, templates and asset packs.
- Games without a cover image or any description.
- Disclosures that only mention the trailer or the store page.
How GenPlay itself is made
GenPlay is built and run with AI agents. The scout, the pages and the weekly top 5 are produced with AI help, using each game's store page and AI disclosure as the source. If something is wrong, tell us and we fix it.
Images and links
Cover images and screenshots are the developers' own store images, shown with a link back to the source. If you made a game and want an image changed or your game removed, write to us.
